GRID REF C1
Three sessions, one lawful method.
Each session works from your own material, wherever your reporting stands today.
C2.1
Geographic Verification Session
A session on confirming where something happened using openly available mapping and imagery. Covers matching visible features against published satellite and street-level imagery, reading terrain and building patterns for consistency, checking claimed distances and travel times, and stating in the finished piece how firmly a location has been established.
What's included:
- One 100-minute session using material from your own work
- A written record of the checks made
- A reusable confirmation format
C2.2
Infrastructure Project Tracking
Guidance on following a public infrastructure project through its published record. Covers the tender notice, the award publication, progress reports, and comparing all of these against what can be observed at the site. Includes describing a discrepancy accurately and seeking comment from the responsible body properly.
What's included:
- Two sessions of 75 minutes using a project relevant to your area
- A written tracking framework
- A documentation format for site observations
C2.3
Regional Inquiry Coordination
Support for coordinating an inquiry across several locations, often with more than one contributor involved. Covers dividing work without creating gaps, keeping one shared indexed record, ensuring approaches for comment are made once and properly documented, agreeing consistent standards between contributors, and bringing the material together into a single coherent account.
What's included:
- Four sessions of one hour across two months
- A written coordination plan
- A shared record structure

How a session runs
STEP 01
A short intake
We ask what you're working on and where the material currently stands.
STEP 02
Session scheduling
We agree a time that fits your work, not a fixed course calendar.
STEP 03
Working the material
We go through your own case using the relevant method, at a pace you set.
STEP 04
Written record
You leave with a documented framework you can apply again on your own.

A note on group bookings
Small newsrooms or research groups can combine the Regional Inquiry Coordination session with individual Geographic Verification sessions for different contributors. Reach out and we'll work out a schedule that fits everyone involved.
Not sure which session fits? Tell us about the work and we'll advise.
